Working Through the Noise

Starting a business is not a walk in the park, it’s challenging and exhausting. Yesterday, I made my first sale. It was exhilarating. It felt surreal. I haven’t set up my shop on my website yet nor have I set up products on my TikTok. But I have my Facebook group where I am connecting with others that are interested in my items, and that is how I made my first sale!

I originally felt like I needed to wait. Wait until I have my shop up and running on my website. Wait until I had all of my products listed on my TikTok and Facebook group. I felt like it needed to be perfect. It needed to be “right”, but then I realized that things didn’t have to be this way. I work my regular full-time job, have kids that are in extracurricular activities, and I do my business at night part-time. I don’t have space for “perfect” but I do have space for “hit the ground running”, and this is exactly what I am doing. I CAN share pictures of my items just like I post pictures of my food, family, or something cute I run into. I know how much the item will be and I know I can get it packaged and shipped, so that is exactly what I am doing. I am just going with it. I am going with what I have bandwidth for. I am just going for it. I use PayPal to create my invoices and shipping labels, which helps me at least manage my sells properly for tax purposes and to stay organized. Everything else will eventually fall into place. Do I have boxes in my closet and room? Yes. Is everything organized and labeled? No. But I do have list of my items on an Excel sheet.

I don’t know how many times I have missed out on opportunities because I was waiting on “perfect”. Life isn’t perfect and nothing always goes the way we want them to, but what I do feel is that things go the way they are supposed to, so I go with the flow.
